Tax Planning and Tax Controversies
Danziger & Markhoff LLP has a broad tax practice representing both regular firm clients as well as clients who retain us to advise them on specific tax questions. We provide sophisticated advice on the federal and state income tax consequences of business, commercial and real estate transactions and the tax consequences of various forms of business organizational structures.
More specifically, our tax practice includes advice with respect to mergers and acquisitions; formation and liquidation of partnerships, limited liability companies and corporations; tax-efficient structuring of real estate transactions, including "like-kind" exchanges; deferred compensation arrangements, including stock options; the formation and operations of tax-exempt organizations; and establishing employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) as tax-favored vehicles to meet the succession planning and liquidity needs of business owners.
We also serve as special tax counsel, both in planning matters and in representation before taxing authorities. We have extensive experience handling matters before the IRS, the United States Tax Court, Federal District Courts and the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.
